About NanoLab NL
Mission
Providing a full-service and open-access infrastructure for R&D in nanotechnology
NanoLabNL is the Dutch national facility for nanotechnological research. It has open access and can be used by scientists and businesses. It has 4 locations in the Netherlands: Delft, Eindhoven, Twente and Groningen. It supports scientists at their research and supports businesses at improving or renewing their products/production process and/or developing new products. Finally, it wants to contribute to reinforcing the Netherlands as knowledge based economy.
Background
Since 2004, NanoLabNL is a valued and valuable national nanotechnology infrastructure. The decision to make use of only a limited number of research laboratories and to make them accessible to all researchers, both public as well as private, has proven extremely effective. NanoLabNL creates, maintains and provides access to a coherent, high-level, state-of-the-art infrastructure for nanotechnology research and innovation in the Netherlands. NanoLabNL brings about coherence in national infrastructure, access, and tariff structure. Alongside the various open innovation initiatives, the Netherlands offers a unique infrastructure which needs to be kept up-to-date.

Organisation
The NanoLabNL organisation consists of the board/foundation, the steering committee, the program office and a communication officer.
NanoLabNL board/foundation
The board of the foundation consists of at least five members: four representatives of the NanoLabNL locations, and a seat for a representative from industry. The foundation's goals are:
- Realizing the micro and nano research facility ambitions.
- Facilitating and stimulating of current and future nano-related research.
- Stimulating the open-access character of the high tech NanoLabs.
- Connecting with national and international research programs.
- Increasing external use by companies.
The board of the NanoLabNL-foundation consists of 5 members:
Chairman:
ir. M. Luizink (MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology, University of Twente)
Secretary/treasurer:
prof.dr. B. Koopmans (Eindhoven University of Technology)
Members
prof.dr.ir. H.S.J. van der Zant (Kavli NanoScience, Delft University of Technology)
prof.dr. T.T.M. Palstra (University of Groningen)
B. Gyselinckx (IMEC)
Steering committee
In its daily activities NanoLabNL is run by a steering committee. The members of the steering committee are representatives for each of the partners in NanoLabNL. The tasks of the steering committee include:
- Implementing the infrastructural investment.
- Carrying out the agreements reached between the parties on access and pricing.
- Managing a PR-strategy.
- Ensuring a sound account of the policy and the resources spent on management of NanoLabNL.
- Optimisation of cooperating with other industrial facilities in The Netherlands.
The Steering committee consists of 5 members:
Chairman
Dr. E.W.J.M. (Emile) van der Drift (Kavli NanoLab Delft)
Members
ir. M. (Miriam) Luizink (MESA+ NanoLab Twente)
prof.dr.ir. W.M.M. (Erwin) Kessels (NanoLab @ TU/e)
